The Air Jordan 12 (XII) Retro - Playoffs (Black / White - Varsity Red)was released on February 14, 2004, and retailed for $135. They feature a black leather upper with lizard skin print on the white portion of the upper. The red in the official colorway refers to the accents, including the Jumpman logo on the tongue. The design of the Air Jordan 12 (XII) is based on the Nisshoki which is the Japanese rising sun flag, as well as a 19th century women's dress boot. It features stitched leather portions which radiate outward like the suns rays.The bottom features a white colorway, with black inserts which feature a modified herringbone pattern, which is great for grip and traction.

"These weigh so little it's like you have nothing on your feet. They're also cool -- I wear them to hike in the High Desert. Their performance on rock is just fine, and they look nice (no weird neon colors). The only place I wouldn't wear these is heavy-duty talus, carrying a heavy pack, or in the wet. They do tend to fit 1/2 size small, so order accordingly. Mine are starting to wear a bit inside at the heel -- there's a metal shank or something that's starting to bend and poke me -- but I have had them for several years and covered many miles."

"When you first put on the shapeups, they feel extremely awkrawd, like moon shoes and it takes a day or two to get used to them.. but then walking in them comes natural.

"I couldn't wear the sneakers I had because I needed too wide just to accommodate my bunions and they were too wide on the rest of my feet especially my heels. The Saconys were supposed to stretch in the bunion area, so I ordered my regular width and it works beautifully. They fit perfectly. It is like walking on mattresses. I do not feel the pavement at all and can walk a lot. I do not go to the gym right now, but know that I can wear them to the gym, too. It is such a relief to finally have a pair of sneakers that fit. "Several days ago, I received a pair of Nike Air Max Turnaround Lows in white/obsidian/red. About 1 hour after I put them on, I became so impressed with the way they felt that I wanted another pair in black. While the white is absolutely perfect with my blue jeans, I prefer the black pair with black, or khaki slacks or jeans. It makes them just a bit dressier, while enabling me to continue to wear a very cool pair of basketball shoes. Not withstanding, the black pair felt just as comfortable as my original white pair. They may be great for basketball, but they are not just for the sport. Great for day to day wear, too."
