They are made solid and comfortable and have withstood, snow and salt conditions in the dead of winter. If the snow is less than 2 inches I'll opt for my sketchers instead of boots. "I just got these a couple days ago, and I've been wearing them for a few hours at a time to get used to them. I've found in the last couple of years that Merrell shoes are being made a tad shorter than before. I can still wear my usual size (8-1//2) with very thin socks, but with thicker socks I now need to buy a half size up. My feet haven't changed, as I still have 2 older pair that I use for gardening, in 8-1/2 and they are fine with thick socks. Anyway, this is the first Siren Ventilator I have purchased and they seem lighter and more breathable than the Chameleons that I've had in the past. At least I hope so. There really is not much, if any, break-in period required, but I'm hiking and birding this weekend, and I would never wear brand new shoes out of the box to do that. Merrells are great and the only brand I've found I can count on buying on-line. Excellent! I am already to look for another color to purchase!"

"I bought this for cross-training and occasional running short distances. They are very comfortable and perfect for that. I wouldn't run more than a few miles in them, but otherwise they feel great on my feet. They really do feel like you are wearing nothing. I bought the Pink. I love them they are very pretty!"
